Is SearchCue a chatbot?
SearchCue is site search with AI answers. Visitors can ask questions in plain text and get direct, plain-text answers from your content, with links to the sources. It is designed to find information, not imitate a person.
Will it make things up?
It can. SearchCue uses your content and links to its sources, but AI answers can still misread or misstate information.
How do I control AI costs?
Extra AI answers are charged only if you enable paid usage. You can set a monthly spending limit. Keyword search remains available when AI answers stop.
Are AI answers optional?
Yes. You can use site search on its own.
Do I need a developer?
Usually not. Install the WordPress plugin or add a code snippet to your site. If you need help, Sebastian and Felix answer support messages themselves.
Which websites does SearchCue work with?
Websites that let you add a code snippet, including WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, and Squarespace. WordPress also has a dedicated plugin.
How does SearchCue know what is on my site?
We crawl your site when you sign up, usually only a couple of minutes, then re-crawl once a day or whenever you request a manual recrawl from the dashboard.
Do you train AI on my content or my visitors' questions?
No. SearchCue reads your site so it can answer questions about it, but we do not train on your data or your visitors' data.
Will it slow my site down?
SearchCue runs searches on its own servers, not on your website's server. The search script loads asynchronously, so your page can display while it downloads. The browser still has to run the script. SearchCue also visits your public pages to update the search index. These visits use your hosting resources.
What does it cost to set up?
Nothing. Setup is free and takes a few minutes.
